Beautiful Patio Gardens

Last week I showed you some beautiful examples of gardens that were grown on small balconies.  Today I want to show you some gardens that were grown in other spaces such as the patio above.

Regardless of how large or small your patio, there is always room for a garden.  You can build some small raised beds to use on your patio, or just use a cluster of pots.

Even wine barrels can be successfully used to create a patio garden.

And it's not necessary to take up a lot of room.  Clustering a few pots in a corner or by a wall will still give you lots of room for your barbecue as well as your table and chairs.

Here is a beautiful example of a very ornamental patio garden.

And here raised beds have been built as part of this patio to enable this owner to grow a variety of vegetables as well as flowers.

In many places outdoor lanais are very popular.  These are large outdoor areas covered with screening to keep out bugs.  Many contain pools but there are also many that do not.

I haven't been able to find many examples of these spaced used for gardening but it seems to me they would be ideal.  You still get all the sunshine but also have pest control.

I have found a few examples of lanais that have plants growing in them.

Combining plants with a water feature creates a wonderful oasis, and can not only be very useful for gardening but also adds greatly to the beauty of the space.

My point with both of these posts has been to show that regardless of what kind of outdoor space you have and no matter what size, you can always grow some kind of garden.  As  said in one of my previous posts,  if all you have room for is a few pots of herbs, you are still taking a step towards growing your own pesticide-free food.

"Almost any garden, if you see it at just the right moment, can be confused with paradise."
