Savour your Time Alone

How are you doing with your new Paleo habits? Are you steadily eating away at that elephant? Remember you need to keep reminding yourself until it becomes automatic.

You should work on these habits only once all the 10 easy steps to becoming a Permanent Paleo Eater  are an automatic part of your everyday life.  Don't try to do everything at once or you will feel overwhelmed.

Check the list below. If you are still working on some of these habits then keep doing that until you no longer need to think about them.  Only then are you ready to move on.  Nobody is rushing you and nobody is keeping track.  This is YOUR plan and you decide when you're ready.

"A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step"

. .... then another, and another.... Take your time, do it right, and you'll build a solid base for a lifetime of easy and healthy Paleo living.

Many people equate spending time alone with being sad and being lonely.  Being alone is often viewed as something negative to be avoided when actually the opposite is true.  People who are never alone, never spend time just being by themselves are missing out of some of the best benefits life has to offer.

Constantly being with others doesn't give your brain a chance to rest or replenish, whereas being by yourself with no distractions gives you the chance to clear your mind and to think more clearly. You are better able to concentrate, which will help you get more work done in a shorter period of time.

Solitude also gives you an opportunity to discover who you really are and to find your own voice.  When you are constantly part of a group, you're more likely to go along with whatever the group thinks, which isn't always in your best interest.  Being alone allows you to think things through and to decide what is actually right for you, not the majority.

Also, constantly being with others prevents you from really thinking about things, which in turn inhibits creativity and lessens productivity. It's hard to think of effective solutions to problems when you're constantly being distracted by incoming information - regardless of whether that information comes from people around you, your computer, or your phone.

Spending time with yourself allows you to better understand who you really are and what it is that you desire in your life.  You're likely to make better choices about the people you want to spend time with, and the relationships you do have with people are likely to be of a better quality and much more fulfilling.

Spending time alone doesn't have to mean sitting on a mountain top and meditating - though if this appeals to you, go for it.  For most people, just being alone while they engage in some kind of activity will allow them to recharge.

Finding time to spend on a hobby you enjoy can give you time to yourself as well as give you a welcome change of pace from your everyday activities.

And if you can use that time to be creative, so much the better.

A good way to start spending more time alone is to read more often.  This will expose you to new ideas and give you the opportunity to think about them.

However, you don't have to be doing anything when you spend time alone.

Just enjoying a long hot bath will give you that time alone to just do nothing.  Sometimes it's the only time you can carve out for yourself so you have to work at making it a priority.

For some, carving out some time in their busy schedule to exercise alone can give them double benefits.

And when there really is no other option, just spending time alone by yourself in your car with no music and no radio ..... just thinking ....... can be a welcome respire from your day.

However you choose to take it, taking time for yourself to be alone is important.  You need to take that time for yourself if you want to live a well balanced healthy life.

Life isn't about finding yourself.  Life is about creating yourself.”   - George Bernard Shaw
