Barbecue Shrimp and Scallops






When most people think of barbecue they usually think of meat or chicken.  Seafood is also a great option and will give a lot more variety to your meals, especially if you end up barbecuing every night in the summer as many people do.

Here is a great basic recipe for marinating shrimps and scallops for the barbecue.  You can either use a barbecue basket to cook them or thread them onto wooden skewers.  The trick here is to soak the skewers in water for about half an hour before using them.  That way they won't catch fire and burn.


Lime Marinate for Paleo Seafood

Ingredients :

-  7 chopped garlic cloves or about 2 tablespoons
-  1 bunch of chopped cilantro
-  1/2 cup of olive oil
-  3 small chopped hot chilies
-  the zest from 1 lime
-  the juice from 3 limes

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and add your shrimp or scallops.  Marinate for at least half an hour before cooking.

Prepare the grill, then cook the shrimp, basting with the marinade until just cooked through.


Shrimp and Scallops cooked in this way are great served on salad greens.



They are also very good added to soup.  To serve a more substantial meal, you can make a quick seafood soup by heating some chicken stock with chopped vegetables, then adding the barbecue shrimp or scallops to finish.


Scallops and Bacon

Here is another great Paleo seafood recipe - barbecue scallops.  Wrap bacon around each scallop and then cook.  These are also wonderful served on a bed of salad greens.
