Sushi-Inspired Tuna Salad

Because rice is not part of our Paleo diet, I am sure there are many of you who miss your Sushi just as I do, so when I found this recipe I was thrilled to discover a great way to still enjoy all the flavours I was missing. (Image from

Ingredients :

-  one 6 oz can of solid white tuna packed in water, drained
-  1/2 cup of mayonnaise
-  1 tablespoon of wasabi paste (or to taste)
-  1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
-  1 tablespoon minced green onion
-  1/4 cup minced celery

Directions :
  • Mix all the ingredients and refrigerate for at least half an hour to let the flavours blend.
There are many ways you can serve this.  Making a Paleo sandwich with Paleo bread or Ciabatta rolls is one, but you can also wrap it in lettuce leaves.

Several websites show tuna salad wrapped in nori like this example from  This would be a great way to make a sushi facsimile and still stick to the Paleo plan.

And if you're looking for a great appetiser, this tuna salad is delicious served in cucumber cups as shown here at  The cool cucumber makes a great contrast to the spicy filling.
